ENWIN Energy and Essex Energy announce a joint venture to address the growing need for locates within the communities of Windsor-Essex County.
Locates are the process by which key underground infrastructures are identified and marked prior to any construction, to ensure safety. This includes the identification of water, hydro, natural gas and other utilities.
Enertrace’s focus will be to address the increased demand for this service to support utilities and municipalities’ quick response in support of a growing number of infrastructure projects, thus allowing construction to continue without delay.
“We are fortunate that Windsor-Essex County is undergoing exciting growth and development whether it be new homes, businesses or infrastructure. This provides new jobs and opportunities for our local communities. However, no project can commence until the necessary locates are completed,” states Garry Rossi, President and CEO, ENWIN Utilities Ltd.
According to ENWIN VP Business Development Kristopher Taylor, “It was clear that this service was needed in Windsor-Essex as there are many developments underway and planned for the future which will require a greater need for locates. With Enertrace, we will be able to support these requests quickly and efficiently allowing residents and contractors to perform their work efficiently.”
“This joint venture is a great example of how regional collaboration in the energy sector can support the accelerating pace of economic development”, added John Avdoulos, President and CEO of Essex Power Corporation.
Enertrace will operate as an independent organization locally within Windsor-Essex however, in the presence of increased demand, plans would be to expand at the appropriate time.
